Coping (2018-2025)

An experimental portrait series photographed on 35mm high contrast black and white film. From 2018 until now every year between the liminal space of December and January I guide participants through a series of exercises and questions in order to capture a unique portrait on the theme of 'Coping'. It is designed not to be overthought and is an opportunity for you to pause, reflect on the past, the present and the future.

The photographs will be catalogued in a series of high quality photo books/zines though this is TBC. If you'd like to be part of the series please include your details below.

For the last 6 years I have offered these shoots completely for free. In order to make sure that spots are not cancelled last minute this time, you are welcome to provide a small donation. Feel free to provide what you think a photo shoot of 15 minutes on high quality film is worth via a Paypal donation to josh@finesilver.com.au. To put it in perspective my costs for each shoot are around 400 AUD including film costs and high quality developing and scanning which is all completed by hand.

Options for shoot times are Sunday December 29th 2024 and Saturday January 4th 2025.

It is a first come first served basis and I offer slots in 15 minute blocks. Please do not worry about what you are wearing, I just ask that you don't wear any overt brands or slogans on shirts, block colours or whatever you are comfortable wearing is best.

I will have an assistant there to greet you at Prince Alfred Park in Surry Hills, right next to central station.
